As a valued partner with the Utah Department of Human Services (DHS), we share the desire to know the accuracy of our rates within our market and service needs. Accounting firm Myers and Stauffer LC is under contract to perform a cost survey and rate analysis of DHS service providers of residential treatment, family-based proctor care, independent living and related services (e.g. respite, day treatment). Cost data and other information gathered from the provider network of the Division of Child and Family Services and the Division of Juvenile Justice Services will allow Myers and Stauffer to establish market rate recommendations for compensation of services.
Provider participation in the cost survey and rate analysis is critical to the success of the project. The research and planning phase of the cost survey is underway with an anticipated release date in six months. Myers and Stauffer will engage providers in the development of the cost survey and provide you with training and technical assistance to complete the cost survey, if requested. All sensitive business information they request will be kept confidential.
Myers and Stauffer is a national accounting firm with 40 years of experience providing services and support for 49 state Medicaid and social service agencies. Included in this time span, Myers and Stauffer has spent 12 years collecting cost data and evaluating rates for a number of home and community based services. This experience includes working with state agencies and provider communities to develop cost survey tools that are reflective of each program’s unique environment as well as analyzing rates to meet the needs of the program goals.
Further information related to the cost survey will be sent to providers by Myers and Stauffer prior to its release. If you have any questions during this development phase, please contact Tom Darais in the DHS Contracts Bureau at 801-538-4624, tdarais@utah.gov.
The achievement of our purpose at Human Services is tied to our partnership with a strong and vibrant private provider network; this newly initiated project with Myers and Stauffer for rate analysis reflects our commitment to that realization. Please feel free to share this information with your staff and peers. Thank you for your ongoing commitment for the betterment of those we serve.
